Thinking out loud about “self-care,” and “self-love.” Part 2 Episode 29

This episode piggybacks off the last with a bit more to say about these self-concepts and their popularity.

I’m no expert just a woman pondering on how, or if something falls in line with the word of God.

Wondering aloud if we should adopt all the “buzz words” that are circulating in our culture.

Honestly, regardless of whether other Christians or popular people agree or not, it all has to be found and confirmed from a Christian worldview.

I hope this episode blesses and encourages you. Have you given any thought to these self-concepts?

Before you jump into another health optimization trend, there's a more foundational question to ask: have you actually laid the groundwork your body needs first? In this episode, Cher unpacks why so many people skip the basics and go straight for shortcuts, and why that approach ends up working against the very health goals they're chasing.  Using the analogy of building a house, she explains why foundations always have to come before optimization, why your symptoms are signals pointing to imbalance rather than problems to silence, and why consistency, not extremes, is what actually creates lasting change. Sleep gets specific attention as one of the clearest examples of a skipped foundation, including what happens to your hormones, cortisol, and cellular repair while you rest, and why coffee can't substitute for what your body actually needs.  Cher also shares a faith-centered perspective on pain and suffering, showing how even hard seasons can point us back to God. This episode is a call to slow down, build the right foundation, and steward your health and body well, so you have the resilience to do the things God has called you to do. Key Topics: Why foundations must come before optimization in your health journey Consistency versus quick fixes and extremes Symptoms as signals of imbalance, not problems to ignore The connection between pain, suffering, and spiritual growth Sleep, cortisol, and hormone balance Why coffee is a stimulant, not a substitute for rest Practical ways to prioritize sleep as a health foundation Using personal health data and trends to guide lifestyle decisions Holistic health and stewardship for the Christian woman Simplifying your health strategy around sustainable, foundational habits Resources & Links: Apply for the Style & Stewardship 1:1 Program: styleandstewardship.com/apply  Episode 114 | Why Putting Your Health Last Is Costing More Than You Think Holistic Health for Christian Mothers 112 How to Take Care of Your Health So You Can Be There for Your Kids 84 Foundations for Wellness – Where to Start in Your Wellness Journey 107 This is What's Wrecking Your Health: The Need for Holistic Christian Rest
