Okay, people, I’ve got to tell you I began researching natural deodorants and even making natural deodorants (years and years ago). What drove me crazy is that they typically just didn’t work for me or were too stinking expensive (no pun intended).
I won’t plunge into all of the particulars of the recipes I tried years ago, it was messy. Nor will I say that the ones I used were not good, they just were too much work. So, I wanted to share all the ones I have tried over the last months from brands I have used for a few years.

An interesting thing about some of the deodorants that I have tried is some of them worked……at first. Then they just did not mix well with my body chemistry. I really had to nail down the best fragrance and consistency.
The Best Affordable Natural Deodorants
I am no stranger to natural things, wellness and health are my jam! In many ways, I prefer natural and holistic products. Honestly though after becoming a Mother I just don’t want to use my time doing things like making everything from scratch at this season of life. #ToddlerboyMom – Nuff said
If this is something you are interested in, which I assume you must be if you clicked on this article (thanks by the way)! I hope my little run down will be of some help if you are making a foray into getting into a more natural approach to your cosmetics (you can check out my makeup post here), and hygiene products (my favorites coming soon).
I’m super excited at the fact that things have grown quite a bit in the industry since I started a more health-conscious approach to body products 10 years ago.
Everything in my cosmetics bag is not 100% “green” but it is a ton better than what I once used and way more natural.
Eh-em propylene glycol, parabens, and other crazy ingredients! You do not want any of that is the largest organ of your body, which is your skin. Some of your lymph nodes are directly in your arm pit.
Sweating is a natural part of toxins being released from your body. We don’t want to jam that process up.
There are ingredients in these deodorants to keep you drier but they are not against (anti) your perspiration (perspirant). Smelling non-offensive is not the same as stopping your body’s detoxification process altogether.
The Best Affordable Natural Deodorants: Chemicals you don’t want in your routine
Here are a few chemicals you don’t want in your routine if you can avoid them. Avoid them!
Propylene glycol: Many of the chemicals used in cosmetics and body products are truly scary. Propylene glycol for example may lead to allergic reactions read here.
Parabens are known to be endocrine disruptors, they actually mess with your hormones and have developmental concerns. You can read more about that here.
When we were TTC I got a grip on my health as far as working out more consistently and also taking care of my body as a whole. I made a deodorant that I loved and it was all-natural, but then found out we were pregnant and it made me GAG! All fragrances made me sick at that point!
I gave store-bought options another go and rotated some products that made me excited and less frustrated. Other people were crying out for more natural products and I was not the only one. Since the Market always meets the demand consumers (like myself) were in luck.
Yay Options!

Natural Deodorant
There was my ramble now here is my round-up of the best affordable natural deodorants. I hope they can help you narrow your search or point you to brands you may not have tried just yet.
A brand I keep coming back to because it seems to work best with my body chemistry is the Schmidts brand. You can purchase it at Walmart which is where I purchase mine.
The price is about $6.00 and up, Walmart was the cheapest. It seems to last quite a while but I’ve got to tell you the scents are love or hate for sure.
Part of what helps these deodorants I’ve found is the fragrance. Since they are not antiperspirants they assist in freshness by using essential oils which is cool with me. However, sometimes they are not scents that you may be used to. There was a pepper scent that was too strong for me.
Natural Deodorant: Here are my favorites
My favorites are right here:

Favorite Scents* Click on the name for the link
Water + Wood this one is the most Unisex scent of them all and has a slightly leather-like musk scent with a refreshing afternote
Rose + Vanilla smells mostly like rose with a hint of vanilla. It’s a feminine light scent and not overpowering
Lavendar + Sage This one is a strong scent and is a potent blend of slightly spicy and lavender.
Bergamont + Lime Mostly a citrus fragrance with a touch of bergamot I like this one a lot but not for really hot months. This is best for the Spring or Winter
Charcoal + Magnesium this one is great the scent is pleasing in my opinion and has charcoal with is excellent at pulling out toxins. The scent is citrusy with a touch of a clean scent. *Please note this one is gray (because of the charcoal) and I would suggest an undershirt with this one or it is apt to stain your top. But I loved this one in the Summer it was effective!
Coconut Pineapple this is my everyday deodorant and I love the balance of fresh sweet scent with the smooth coconut fragrance. It’s perfect because it is not too much of either scent. Charcoal + Magnesium and Coconut Pineapple are my Favorites!
By far Schmidt’s is the one I purchase over and over for price point, effectiveness, and scent options!
Favorite Natural Deodorants: Native

Native is a brand I really like. It is paraben-free, aluminum-free, vegan, and cruelty-free. And although it has baking soda in the ingredients it is not irritating.
What I love is the base is Coconut which has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties, smells fantastic (if you’re into coconut). Coconut is everywhere in my life LOL. I cook with it, use it on my hair, skin, bake with it, and put it in my coffee too! I digress
They have a subscription and it makes each container $10.00 instead of $12.00 and comes to your house. Um hello, you never have to make a dreaded trip to the store if you don’t want to. Win-Win
Or use it with your Walmart online order which will run just under $12.00. If you are new to Native products and don’t want another subscription Walmart is the way to go.

Native has limited edition scents that come out during the Holiday Season. For example, during the Fall there is a Pumpkin spice latte scent. Go-figure
My Hubs still uses Native deodorant and we have a subscription package 1x/month like clockwork. I no longer use it because the Schmidts seems to work better for me. I have used a ton of different scents in this brand and truly they are my Favorite! At a price point of under $7.00, it is such a great affordable option. I get mine at Walmart or Target.
I have used these for over a year and these are the best affordable natural deodorants I have used. This list will continue to evolve and I’m sure of that because I always have my eyes peeled at the ingredients and products that will work for me and my family.
I hope this can help you narrow down your search for your new favorite Natural Deodorant.
