The Healthy Groceries We Get Weekly
I just wanted to share what our family typically gets just to stay healthy, to stay on budget, a lot of produce, and hopefully, you have an Aldi in your area, but I also got a couple of things from Walmart as well. These items you can pretty much get from any of your local grocery stores, but specifically, I wanted to share what I got from Aldi and Walmart.
So if you have an Aldi in your area or Walmart, these prices may not be exactly the same, but I thought that they were really, really amazing deals. I got a ton of produce because one of the things that we like to do is actually purchase in bulk a lot of our meat and have it delivered. So in this one, I did share some of the proteins that I got from Aldi and Walmart.
Protein Items Chicken, Fish, and Eggs
So, let’s hop into what I got. I had to pick up some boneless, skinless chicken thighs. These are super easy to throw on a stir fry. I love how these just retain so much flavor, $7.67 for a big pack. And then I went ahead and grabbed two packs of the ground chicken. They’re not organic, but this is the next best thing.
I believe they were $3.70 cents each. Pasture-raised eggs are my absolute favorite because [even better than organic, unless you can get pasture-raised organic] they’re raised on small family farms and they can go out and they can forage and eat what hens typically eat. I got three dozen of those. They were about $4.49 cents each.
Then I got Alaskan Cod the giant family pack was only $12.99. And you really can’t beat the price. I like to make these all the time, especially for fish tacos!
Great Produce Prices at Aldi
I got a lot of produce and some items were organic while others were just a great deal either way. Here’s what I got.
- 1.5 lb frozen organic blueberries- $6.00
- 6 bags of organic frozen green beans – $1.35 each
Even though it says “steam in a bag”, please, for the love of your health, don’t steam them in the bag.
Please don’t do that. That’s not healthy for you! I spoke about that and other things wrecking our health on this Podcast Episode.
Pistachios, because they’re awesome $5.57. And I like to grab their salsa, their canned black beans, and of course their pasta sauce is my absolute favorite It’s organic and a little over $2.00! If you check out the ingredients, this is one of the cleanest ones that you’re gonna find. There’s no added sugar and there’s no canola oil, which is extremely hard to find same thing with their salsa.
And Aldi’s organic jarred salsa it’s so flavorful and tastes so fresh to me. It’s a little over $2.00 in my area.
I purchased 2 cans of black beans ($.99) for those days when I don’t want to cook black beans from scratch.
Two bags of sweet potatoes were $1.99 a bag they’re not organic, but man, such a great deal!
Coleslaw two packs of those under two bucks, each
$2.49 for a two-pack of organic zucchini and the same price for 1 large organic broccoli
Perfect for adding vegetables to pasta.
1 bag of avocados $3 49.
Ginger was around $2 for several large roots, which is insane for that much ginger.
I love cooking with ginger. It’s a great Anti-inflammatory!

More Great Produce Items from Aldi Grocery Haul
I purchased two packs of peppers (3 bell peppers in each pack) for $1.99 and some cilantro for 75. I got 1 English cucumber and a watermelon which was under $4.00!
Organic grapes were $4 for a large container, which I just went to Costco last week and it was about $7.99 for the same amount.
Bag of limes ($1.99) which is great to put in your water for minerals! Check out this Podcast episode on hydration!
I always get at least two bunches of bananas, these are great for smoothies or for a snack on the run.
Pink lady apples have gotta be the best apples in the world (to me) their organic apples were priced $5.79, a bag I also picked up some Cara Cara oranges. Fresh pineapple was $1.85 cents. We eat about one to two pineapples every week.
Some Healthy Grocery Items from Walmart
From Walmart, I shared the protein options that I got. I also grabbed some coconut flour (under $8.00). I love to use that in my paleo blueberry banana muffin recipe. If you have not had the Tessemae ranch $4.00 it’s really tasty! It’s dairy-free and delicious. Siete grain-free taco shells were $5.79.
I grabbed four plantains they were 48 cents each. Our family loves plantains and we go through them quickly. The last thing I grabbed was a large Rutebega for $2.47
Have you ever eaten a Ruda Bega before?
It’s really, really delicious. It looks scary, but it’s not have you eaten it? Let me know in the comments
So that is what I got this week from Aldi and from Walmart, there are some things that we already had, like onions, yellow potatoes, and beef at home in the freezer.
I truly believe you can eat healthy food on a budget and feed your family and yourself well!
We all have different budgets to work with and different stores in our areas but I believe if we purchase real, whole foods we can impact our health for the best!
