Embracing Whole Real Ingredients
I get it – the idea of using whole, real ingredients might seem overwhelming, especially if you’re used to relying on processed foods or takeout. Using real whole food are the building blocks of a healthy diet and are essential for your family’s well-being.
The Solution: Simple Meal Planning
In this episode, I’m sharing some ridiculously simple ways to make healthy meals a regular part of your family’s routine. I’m going to break down my approach with step by step examples.
Or, keep on reading for some tips that are a great starting place!
1. Plan Your Meals in Advance
One of the key steps in simplifying your meal planning process is to plan your meals in advance. Take some time each week to sit down and decide what you’ll be cooking for your family. This will save you from last-minute panic and reduce the temptation to order takeout.

2. Create a Weekly Meal Calendar – Meal Themes
To make things even simpler, create a weekly meal calendar. Creating a themed line up of your family’s favorites is a great approach. Assign specific meals to each day of the week, ensuring variety and balance.
Hello Taco Tuesday!
This can help you streamline your grocery shopping and avoid food waste. I hate throwing away unused produce that I “thought” I would use.
When I know what I’m cooking I don’t buy unnecessary ingredients that get wasted. That’s throwing money in the trash in the form of rotten food!
3. Prepare Ingredients Ahead of Time
Chopping vegetables, marinating proteins, and prepping grains in advance can save you valuable time on busy weeknights. By having these ingredients ready to go, you have a quick and healthy dinner option ready for pairing.
4. Make Use of Leftovers
Make leftovers work for you! Cook extra portions intentionally and transform them into new and exciting meals. For example, roast extra vegetables to be added to a soup the next day or turn last night’s chicken into a delicious stir-fry or Taco Tuesday.
5. Get the Family Involved
Make meal planning and cooking a family affair. I like getting my kid involved in the process and I turn it into educational activity. #homeschoolmom Plus, it’s a great way to bond with your kid.
Optimizing Your Family’s Wellness
By following these simple meal planning ideas, you’ll not only get a healthy dinner on the table with ease but also optimize your family’s wellness. Whole, real ingredients are packed with essential nutrients and are key to supporting your family’s health and vitality.
